The Amberwell Atchison Volunteers are a special group of people who give their time and energy to make a real difference — for our patients, our staff, and our community. Their guiding philosophy says it best: “to make life more significant through unselfish service to others.”
You’ll find them throughout Amberwell — at the lobby information desk, in the surgery waiting room, in materials management, and at Amberwell Downtown. They also run the Twice Is Nice Thrift Store in downtown Atchison and the Sunflower Gift Shop at Amberwell Atchison, both of which are well-loved by the community.
Through fundraising efforts like their annual bake sale and golf tournament, the Volunteers are able to purchase important equipment for Amberwell. Over the years, that’s included wheelchairs, infant warmers, laboratory instruments, vital sign monitors, radiology monitors, and a traction table for physical therapy. They also offer scholarships to local students who are pursuing careers in healthcare.
The Auxiliary Volunteers are currently busy preparing for the 32nd Annual Golf Tournament, coming up on June 5th at the Atchison Golf Club at Bellevue. It’s a well-loved event that the community looks forward to every year.
National Healthcare Volunteer Week is April 19–25, and it’s a great reminder to pause and say thank you. We’re so grateful for everything the Amberwell Atchison Auxiliary Volunteers do. It truly means a lot.
