Jacquelyn Kemmerer, DNP, FNP-C, is a primary care and occupational health services provider at Amberwell Lansing Clinic. Jacque’s special interest is in women’s health. In Lansing and its surrounding communities, she cares for all patients—from pediatrics to geriatrics.
Jacque was initially drawn to Amberwell Lansing Clinic because of its location—she has a son, a daughter, and three grandchildren that live nearby. “But then I started researching the growth happening at Amberwell and their vision for healthcare in rural communities,” said Jacque, “and I want to be a part of a growing and nurturing healthcare system.”
“I don’t know where my desire to become a nurse came from,” said Jacque, “but my mom says that I have been writing about it in papers since I was in second grade. It has just always been there. I took a different path from the one I set out to take. I originally wanted to teach nursing, but different doors kept opening for me and eventually things fell into place for me to become a nurse practitioner—and I absolutely love what I do!”
“I really focus on listening to my patients because I don’t want to miss anything about the history of what is happening with their health,” Jacque explained. “I’m caring and compassionate because I genuinely do care. I care about their health, and I care about them as individuals. You get better outcomes when patients know that you’re listening and that you care.”
Jacque became an LPN before she and her family moved from Kansas to Nebraska. She then completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Then, they moved to Dodge City, KS, where she founded a clinic that improved access to care for women in the community. In 2013, she went back to UNMC to earn a Doctor of Nursing degree. After completing her DNP, she continued to serve in the women’s health clinic in Dodge City as a provider. During her time there, she worked with local law enforcement to develop a program to improve access to care for victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Jacque is passionate about community service and has served as a board member for a crisis center, a children’s advocacy center, and higher education boards. She and her husband have two children—a son and a daughter, both married—and three grandchildren, ages 7, 9, and 16. They have two boxers, Jackson and JJ. In her free time, Jacque enjoys playing golf. She is also an avid runner and does at least one half-marathon a year.
