Michael Prater, MD

Michael T. Prater, MD, is a board-certified emergency medicine provider at Amberwell Atchison. He’s had more than two decades of experience caring for patients in fast-paced emergency department settings. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine.

Dr. Prater has spent much of his career serving patients across the Kansas City metro and northeast Kansas. In addition to clinical care, he has served as an emergency department physician representative on a stroke committee, supporting coordinated, high-quality emergency response.

He is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Kansas Medical Society. Outside of medicine, Dr. Prater enjoys cars, fishing, scuba diving, mountain biking, and restoring antique tools.
