About Provider
Family Nurse Practitioner Sarah Bakri is a new primary care provider in the walk-in clinic in Atchison. Prior to joining our primary care team, Sarah spent her nursing career caring for pediatric patients with diverse healthcare needs, providing care for newborns through early adulthood. She is excited to return to her hometown of Atchison and expand her focus to caring for patients of all ages.
On Choosing Amberwell Atchison…
Sarah chose to serve at Amberwell Atchison because of the people and the community. Having performed the bulk of her graduate clinical rotations with Atchison Hospital & Clinics, Sarah was well-acquainted with the hard-working and dedicated individuals who serve on the primary care team. As an Atchison native, Sarah knew that Atchison is an exceptional community in which to serve.
On choosing to become a DNP…
Sarah decided to become a nurse practitioner after spending three years living in Angola, a country on the western coast of Africa. Seeing the state of healthcare in a third-world country inspired her to go back to school to earn her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
On being patient-centered…
At Atchison Hospital & Clinics, we focus on patient-centered care. We ask each of our providers to tell us what being patient-centered means to them personally.
“To me, patient-centered care means working as a team with the patient to ensure that they receive high-quality care that is tailored to fit their personal beliefs, values, and lives.”
Educational Background
Sarah earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Kansas State University. She then earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice, all from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
