Ensuring our patients have access to local health care within our communities is a priority for Amberwell Health. During Patient Access Week, we celebrate all the roles dedicated to making sure our patients can access their providers and get the procedures they need. Patient access professionals handle patient registration, scheduling, prior authorization for procedures, check-in, insurance verification, financial counseling, and many other important functions at each of our Amberwell locations.
Thank you to all our patient access employees for the friendly smiles and the excellent service they provide for our patients on a daily basis.
Improving Patient Access
Over the last two years, Amberwell Health has been improving patient access to care by expanding our services to more locations. In February of 2020, we opened Amberwell Leavenworth Clinic in Leavenworth, Kansas, bringing general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and occupational health services to Leavenworth. Primary care and maternal care services returned to the Horton area when Amberwell Horton Clinic began accepting patients in June of 2020.
In January of 2021, we increased access to our primary care services in Atchison with the addition of Amberwell Eighth Street Clinic as Dr. John Growney and his son James Growney, PA-C, joined the Amberwell Primary Care team.
In February of 2022, Amberwell orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brian Duncan began offering orthopedic surgery services at Amberwell Hiawatha. Also, in February of 2022, Amberwell Health added the Sudbeck Thompson Allied Rehabilitation Services (STARS) therapy team to the Amberwell family of services to expand rehab services in Hiawatha and its surrounding communities.
Most recently, Amberwell Health announced an increase in patient services for Atchison and surrounding area communities through a surgical and clinical expansion project at Amberwell Atchison that is scheduled to begin in May of 2022.
