Amberwell Hiawatha will be seeing all primary care patients at only the main building of the campus at 300 Utah Street beginning January 1. The building located across the parking lot at 313 Utah Street, also known as Building B, was used during peak COVID times as a second location to see primary care patients. As primary returns to the main building only, Building B is now being prepared to be used for new services that will soon be available for Hiawatha area communities.
Occupational health services will be provided at Building B on the Amberwell Hiawatha campus beginning early 2023. These services include pre-employment physicals, drug testing, CDL physicals, worker’s compensation injury care, respirator mask fitting, and other employment-related health care. Provider Hope Zaldivar, NP-C, and has been seeing occupational health patients in Leavenworth and Atchison since August and is a welcome addition to the medical staff at Amberwell Hiawatha.
Also coming in 2023 is a new behavioral health program for seniors. The program will focus on helping seniors overcome depression & anxiety through group and individual therapy. Therapy will be provided at Amberwell Hiawatha, Building B, and is available to Medicare patients who qualify based on an initial assessment.
Amberwell Hiawatha has been focused on improving access to care since affiliating with Amberwell Health in March 2021, adding 8 new providers spanning our primary care, surgical care, and maternal care service lines. Introducing occupational health services and behavioral care is an exciting move forward for both the organization and the community as we work to fulfill our mission of helping healthcare thrive in our Hiawatha area communities.
