Courtney Owens, FNP-C, is a primary care provider at Amberwell Troy Clinic. She is both a native and a current resident of Doniphan County, Kansas–she grew up in Troy and attended Troy schools. She is honored to be able to serve in her hometown and its surrounding areas.
Courtney’s first job in healthcare was with Amberwell Health. At nineteen, she started as a certified surgical technologist when Amberwell Atchison was Atchison Hospital and located on 2nd Street. Her position there inspired her to become a nurse practitioner. She was excited when the opportunity arose in 2018 to return to Amberwell Health and now to serve at Amberwell Troy.
Amberwell Health focuses on patient-centered care. We ask each of our providers to tell us what being patient-centered means to them personally.
Providing compassionate, patient-centered care to all her patients is extremely important to Courtney. “I strive to care for each of my patients as I would my own friends and family,” she said. “To me, patient-centered care involves having the patient’s best interest at heart, listening to their desires, and working with them as a team to achieve the best outcome available.”
Courtney began her career in healthcare as a certified surgical technologist at Amberwell Atchison. She then completed her nursing degree from North Central Missouri College in Trenton, Missouri, and worked for several years as a registered nurse. She went on to earn her family nurse practitioner degree from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Courtney returned to Amberwell Atchison in 2018 and served as a primary care and acute care provider. In 2021, Courtney became the family practice provider at Amberwell Troy Clinic. She has experience working with patients across the lifespan, from infants to geriatrics.
Courtney and her husband Gabe live in rural Doniphan County with their three young sons and two dogs. When she is not caring for patients, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and being active in her church. Her hobbies include taking exercise classes, camping, traveling, and watching her children play sports.
