The Amberwell Health Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Jared Abel as the new Chief Executive Officer of Amberwell Health. Abel brings extensive experience in healthcare leadership, having served in executive roles at LMH Health in Lawrence, Kansas and the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System.
Abel, who was raised in Winchester, Kansas, recently purchased a farm in the area where he will reside with his wife and children. “We are thrilled to welcome Jared to Amberwell,” said Amberwell Health board chair Larry Mears. “His deep roots in the region and proven track record in healthcare make him an ideal fit to lead Amberwell Health as we continue our mission of ensuring robust local healthcare access for our communities.”
Abel most recently served as Senior Vice President of Operations and Physician Enterprise at LMH Health, where he led all aspects of the health system’s employed physician practice and key ancillary departments. Prior to that, he held roles of increasing responsibility at the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System, including Interim Associate Director and Assistant Director.
“I am honored to be selected as the next CEO of Amberwell Health,” said Abel. “As a native of this region, I understand the critical importance of maintaining high-quality healthcare for local communities. I look forward to working closely with the exceptional team at Amberwell to build upon the organization’s legacy of service and innovation.”
The current organizational structure will continue for Amberwell affiliates and Jared will be leading Amberwell Health, including the administration teams at both Amberwell Atchison and Amberwell Hiawatha. “We have flourished since the affiliation with Amberwell in 2021 and we look forward to continued progress under Jared’s leadership,” said Del Elffner, board chair of Amberwell Health Hiawatha.
Current CEO Jeff Perry announced his resignation earlier this year and will continue in his role until the transition is effective in June. “The Board is grateful for Jeff’s leadership and commitment to evolve Amberwell Health for close to five years,” added Mears. “We are confident that Jared is the right person to build upon that strong foundation and take our organization forward.”
