Can you believe it’s already July? This month’s focus areas highlight how physical and social wellness go hand in hand. It’s UV Safety Awareness Month, a reminder to protect yourself when you’re out in the sun. It’s also Social Wellness Month, which encourages us to stay connected and strengthen relationships. Social wellness means checking in on the people you care about—and making space to meet someone new. A quick chat with a neighbor, coffee with a coworker, or joining a community event can go a long way.
Speaking of community events, Amberwell Atchison is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, July 3, from 1pm to 6pm in the cafeteria. Donating blood is one of the simplest, most impactful ways to support patients who need surgery, cancer treatment, or emergency care. If you’re able, consider making time to donate. It’s a small act that can save lives.
Also, July 24 is Amelia Earhart Day, honoring the birthday of one of the most famous pioneers in aviation history. Amelia was born and raised in Atchison, and the community celebrates her legacy every year with a weekend full of events—airshows, activities, and a nationally recognized fireworks display—that draws visitors from all over. Her story is a reminder of what’s possible when courage, curiosity, and perseverance come together.
