David Hart, DNP, CRNA, NSPM-C

David Hart, DNP, CRNA, NSPM-C, has been part of the Amberwell Atchison family since 2013, now serving as the Clinical Director of Anesthesia. With a deep commitment to patient care and a calm, steady presence, David brings decades of experience in anesthesiology and pain management to the community he now calls home.

Education, Training & Military Service

Before joining Amberwell, David served in the U.S. military for twenty-four years, where he built a strong foundation in healthcare. He began his service as a medic, later becoming a licensed practical nurse (LPN), and eventually a frontline anesthesia provider. His military career included deployments in:

• Operation Just Cause
• Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm
• Operation Iraqi Freedom – where he served with a combat support hospital in Al Asad, Iraq

After retiring from military service, David and his family moved to Atchison in 2013.

David’s academic path includes:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Washburn University (Magna Cum Laude)
Master of Nursing – Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) – Chatham University
Advanced Pain Management Fellowship – University of South Florida
Certified in Nonsurgical Pain Management (NSPM-C)

Teaching & Thought Leadership

David had previously been adjunct faculty at the Kansas University Department of Nurse Anesthesia Education and is currently an adjunct faculty member at the University of South Florida’s Advanced Pain Management Fellowship. He’s published several articles in the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology Journal, focusing on:

• Steroid selection in pain management
• The transition of clinical nurse anesthesiologists into academic roles

He’s been invited to speak on a variety of topics, including:

• Opioid-free anesthesia
• Perioperative care for chronic pain patients
• Managing pain in rural healthcare settings
• Epigenetics in anesthesia

A Part of the Community

David and his family live in Atchison, where they’re active in the local community. When he’s not in the operating room or teaching, David enjoys:

• Reading
• Brewing
• Playing the drums
• Supporting local community theater and volunteering with the humane society
