Stacy Scott, FNP-C, is a full-time family care provider at Amberwell Horton Clinic. Stacy has a wide range of experience caring for people of all ages with many different health conditions, having previously served in the primary care and walk-in clinics of a health system in Mena, Arkansas, and in healthcare facilities in Topeka, Kansas, and Sabetha, Kansas.
Stacy knew from a young age that she wanted to help people by pursuing a career in the medical field. Her mother is also a nurse, and Stacy wanted to follow in her footsteps. Stacy started working as a certified nurse assistant at a local nursing home in Sabetha when she was sixteen years old and progressed in her career to become a certified medical assistant, then a registered nurse, and now a nurse practitioner.
“I believe family practice providers are the hub of healthcare and vital to the health of the individual, family, and the community,” said Stacy. “I enjoy caring for persons of all ages and watching families grow.”
At Atchison Hospital & Clinics, we focus on patient-centered care. We ask each of our providers to tell us what being patient-centered means to them personally.
“I love patient-centered care, and I believe that it is vital to improve the health of individuals,” explained Stacy. “Patient-centered care involves the patient’s input on treatment plans for their own health condition. As a provider, I can inform, educate, and present different treatment options to the patient, but together, we can develop a treatment plan that best suits the patient’s goals for their health.”
Stacy received a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from the University of Kansas in Lawrence and a second bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Baker University School of Nursing in Topeka, where she graduated with honors. She then earned her master’s degree in Nursing–Family Nurse Practitioner from Fort Hays State University in Fort Hays.
Stacy married her high school sweetheart, and they have three sons: Jacob, Bon, and Christian. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, spending time with her family, and cleaning up the environment with friends. Stacy is looking forward to getting to know the Horton community and helping with community events and activities in the future.
