Respiratory care is specialty care for people with cardiopulmonary disorders such as asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, cardiovascular disorders, trauma, or other types of breathing difficulties. Amberwell is fortunate to have a hardworking team of respiratory therapists on hand twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year to help our patients with breathing difficulties.
Their Work
Our respiratory therapists are specially trained to administer a wide variety of tests, procedures, techniques, and medications to aid people with respiratory and cardiac disorders. They serve in all areas of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care. They serve patients that range in age from infant to geriatrics. Essentially, wherever there are people with breathing problems, a respiratory therapist is there to assist.
This year, respiratory therapists have been met with unprecedented challenges as they care for patients with COVID-19.

Dwaine Klingman RRT, BS, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services
Dwaine’s hometown is Atchison, and he has had the pleasure to serve in Amberwell Health’s Atchison location for sixteen-and-a-half years. He remembers serving in the former facility that was located on 2nd Street and is amazed by all of the many improvements the organization has undergone over the years.
In his role as director of cardiopulmonary services, Dwaine oversees the day-to-day operations of the cardiopulmonary department for both inpatient and outpatient care. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing.
