Regular well-woman exams are key to a woman’s overall health and wellness. These important visits provide a baseline that a primary care provider uses throughout a patient’s life to identify and treat issues before they become serious. At Amberwell, our primary care providers are committed to helping women live healthier lives through relationship-based, preventative care.
A well-woman exam includes screenings specific to women’s health, like a clinical breast exam, pelvic exam, cervical cancer screening, and other issues depending on circumstance or age. During the exam, your primary care provider will also go through the components of a regular physical examination, including a health history, blood pressure screening, height, weight, and skin cancer screening. You will also discuss mental and emotional health with your provider. Depending on risk factors and age, additional screenings, like colonoscopy or mammography will be scheduled, or additional lab work ordered.
Our Amberwell primary care locations in Atchison, Hiawatha, Highland, Horton, and Troy make preventative care accessible and convenient. If you haven’t scheduled an annual, well-woman exam, schedule an appointment with one of our primary care providers today.
