Jodi Twombly, PA-C, is a primary care provider at Amberwell Hiawatha. Prior to joining Amberwell Health, Jodi worked at a healthcare facility in Topeka, Kansas. She returned to her hometown of Hiawatha in 2007. She enjoys seeing a wide variety of patients of all ages, from birth to geriatrics. Her special interests are in women’s health and health and wellness.
Jodi chose to return to her hometown of Hiawatha to practice medicine to give back to the community in which she grew up. “I enjoy taking care of community members I have known my entire life,” said Jodi. “It is very rewarding to watch families grow up as you care for them.”
Jodi chose to become a healthcare provider because she has always been intrigued by the human body and how it works. “I had excellent science and biology teachers that inspired me to go into healthcare,” she said. “I also enjoy the challenge of caring for patients in the ER.”
Amberwell Health focuses on patient-centered care. We ask each of our providers to tell us what being patient-centered means to them personally.
“Healthcare is always a better experience when both the medical provider and the patient can make decisions that work for both of them,” said Jodi. “The patient needs the education to help them understand the process and the provider can guide them as they go through testing and treatment.”
Jodi began her medical career at a healthcare facility in Topeka, Kansas, and worked in emergency medicine and trauma for seven years. She then transitioned to Amberwell Hiawatha as her family started to grow. She has worked in Hiawatha as a Primary Care and Emergency Care provider since 2007.
Jodi is married and has three active children. When she is not caring for patients, she is following her children to their various sporting events and activities. She also serves as president of the Hiawatha High School Booster Club and is a member of First United Methodist Church, where she teaches Sunday school, sings in the choir, and plays handbell. Her hobbies include walking, running, working out, playing golf, singing, and gardening.
