Bonnie Enneking, FNP-C

Bonnie Enneking, FNP-C has been a primary care provider at Amberwell Highland Clinic since 1993. Prior to becoming a primary care provider, Bonnie worked for a surgeon in Hiawatha who provided surgical services for ten surrounding hospitals. She believes that her years of surgery experience help to make her better at diagnosing and treating conditions in her current patients. Bonnie enjoys caring for patients of all ages.

On choosing Amberwell…

“I chose to serve at Amberwell Health because of their commitment to bringing healthcare to the communities that we serve in rural areas,” said Bonnie. “Amberwell sees the importance of offering healthcare services locally so that people don’t have to travel far to seek care. To ensure the future of healthcare in this area, we need to prevent the migration of patients seeking services by offering more services locally.”

On becoming a healthcare provider…

“Growing up, I really wanted to be a veterinarian,” said Bonnie, “but I was advised that in a small town, I’d mostly be caring for large farm animals and that I’d be much more valuable as a healthcare provider. I think they were right. I have never regretted my decision to go into healthcare.”

On being patient-centered…

Amberwell Health focuses on patient-centered care. We ask each of our providers to tell us what being patient-centered means to them personally.

“To me, being patient-centered means putting patients first,” said Bonnie. “I believe that if you really listen to a patient, they will tell you what is wrong with them. I want my patients to know that I am truly focused on their needs and care. They are at the center of the practice.”

About Bonnie

Bonnie and her husband Mike have been married for over forty-five years. They have three children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and seven grandchildren with ages ranging from twenty-one to five. Bonnie loves spending time with her family, attending sporting events, and golf.
