The Amberwell Atchison Volunteers is an awesome group of volunteers that make a difference in the lives of Amberwell patients and staff every day. Their group philosophy is “to make life more significant through unselfish services to others,” and they demonstrate that daily through their service at Amberwell.
We’re exceedingly grateful for all the time and assistance this group gives to Amberwell each year. They volunteer in different departments and patient care areas throughout our facility, including the Sunflower Gift Shop, the lobby information desk, and the surgical waiting room. They also manage the Twice Is Nice Thrift Store in downtown Atchison.
Each year, the Volunteers hold various fundraisers, like their annual golf tournament and their craft and bake sale. Over the years, they’ve purchased important healthcare equipment for Amberwell, like wheelchairs, baby warmers and monitors, laboratory equipment, vital sign monitors for surgery, a transport monitor and mammography monitor for radiology, and a traction table for physical therapy. They also use the funds they raise to provide scholarships for area students interested in pursuing a career in the medical field.
April 16 to 22 is National Healthcare Volunteer Week, and we’re celebrating the Amberwell Atchison Volunteers. We celebrate them this week and every week! They are such an important part of Amberwell!
