Amberwell Health recognizes the need for orthopedic care in the communities we serve and has been focused on improving access to orthopedic services through adding locations and surgeons to provide orthopedic care. Throughout the past 18 months, significant growth has occurred within Amberwell Orthopedic Care.
In February of 2020, a new clinic was opened in Leavenworth, Kansas, that brought orthopedic surgery services to Leavenworth patients. Dr. Shannon Carpenter joined the Leavenworth clinic team in March of 2020, also offering clinic care in Leavenworth and orthopedic surgery at Amberwell Atchison. In September, Lisa Childress, PA-C, joined the Amberwell Orthopedic Care team at Amberwell Atchison as a surgical physician assistant.
Amberwell Health will welcome an additional full-time orthopedic surgeon to provide orthopedic services for patients in the Atchison and Hiawatha communities. Board-certified orthopedic surgeon Brian Duncan, MD, will join the orthopedic care team on September 15, 2021. With this addition, Amberwell Orthopedic Care will include surgeons Dr. Duncan, Dr. Wilkinson, and Dr. Carpenter and physician assistants Lexy Rooney, PA-C, and Lisa Childress, PA-C. In addition, the team is well-supported by the anesthesia and pain management services of a full-time anesthesiologist Darin Allen, MD, and nurse anesthetists David Hart, CRNA, DNP; Rebecca Boust, CRNA, DNP; and Micah Reece, CRNA, DNP.
