Amberwell is excited to welcome Family Nurse Practitioner Danielle Jessee to the primary care team at Amberwell Atchison. Prior to joining Amberwell, Danielle provided primary and post-acute care to the geriatric population in the Kansas City area and also served as a registered nurse in the emergency department. Danielle will be providing acute primary care services at Amberwell Atchison and to the student body at Benedictine College.
Danielle chose Amberwell because she enjoys getting to know her patients and having meaningful interactions with them, and she feels that she will be able to do that in Atchison. “Atchison is a great community,” said Danielle. “It has all the amenities of a large town yet still has that small-town feel that I really like.”
Danielle began her career in the healthcare field when she was sixteen years old. At her mother’s suggestion, she started out as a dietary aide and then became a certified nursing assistant. She went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Luke’s College of Health Sciences. Danielle worked for several years as a nurse in the St. Luke’s Hospital’s emergency department, where she collaboratively developed an innovative tool to improve patient outcomes and nurse safety. She then went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Missouri and spent a year working as a nurse practitioner for geriatric patients before coming to Amberwell Health.
Danielle focuses on providing patient-centered care to all her patients. “To me,” said Danielle, “being patient-centered means getting to know the patient, respecting their preferences, and developing a care plan with them that addresses their needs and desired outcomes.”
