Infusion nurses provide expert care and support to patients during some of their most vulnerable moments. Whether they are administering medications, managing complex conditions, or helping patients navigate their treatment journey, they bring skill, compassion, and reassurance to every interaction. Their dedication makes a real difference in the lives of the people they care for.
In honor of National IV Nurses Day we’re excited to introduce some of our incredible Amberwell infusion nurses. Each nurse has their own unique story, perspective, and approach to making patients feel comfortable and supported. From building meaningful connections to adding thoughtful touches that brighten the day, these nurses exemplify what it means to truly care. Take a moment to learn more about them—you’re sure to be inspired by them.
Theresa approaches patient care with a simple yet powerful philosophy: “I treat them the way I would treat my own family.” Her dedication to compassionate care stems from a deeply personal place. Inspired by her mother, a CNA who shared memorable stories from her caregiving work, Theresa chose to follow in her footsteps. After losing her mother to cancer, Theresa felt a strong calling to be there for others during challenging times.
She believes in empowering patients to take an active role in their health, often reminding them to “listen to your body. It is trying to tell you something.” Outside of work, Theresa carries a valuable piece of advice from her brother: “Always give a person a chance.” This outlook helps her connect with patients and coworkers alike, making her a trusted and caring presence in the infusion clinic.
For Courtney, the most rewarding part of her job is “getting to know patients and connecting with them.” She takes pride in helping patients recover and return to their normal lives, knowing she’s making a meaningful difference.
Courtney’s love for science and her natural inclination to help others led her to pursue a career in nursing, which has been the perfect fit for her.
Outside of work, Courtney finds joy in spending time with her family, especially playing with her son, Kayce, who always brightens her day. Known as the department’s creative spirit, Courtney uses her love of crafting to decorate and make the space a fun and welcoming place for patients.
Shelby feels that the most rewarding aspect of her job are the relationships she is able to build, “I’ve created friendships not only with my coworkers but also my patients.” She believes in connecting with patients by “putting myself in their shoes and easing their minds.” Shelby takes time to listen to each patient’s concerns and answer their questions, ensuring they feel supported and understood.
Her favorite advice for patients is, “Always be honest in your care. We don’t judge; we are here to help.” Shelby’s passion for healthcare stems from her love of learning and her desire to make a difference, “Seeing a patient improve or have confidence in me makes my job more enjoyable every day.” After a busy shift, Shelby loves spending time with her family and finds comfort in talking about her day with her husband, who also works in the medical field.
Jaymi’s journey as an infusion nurse began while pursuing her BSN-DNP, a role that gave her the flexibility to balance her studies and career while building meaningful connections with coworkers and patients. She focuses on making each patient feel comfortable by explaining their care step by step and offering thoughtful touches like blankets or refreshments.
Jaymi’s caring nature and her belief that “everything happens for a reason” guide her approach to life and nursing, making her a compassionate and trusted caregiver. Fun fact: her middle name, which means butterfly, reflects her Native American heritage!
