Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants play a vital role in helping people of all ages and abilities achieve their physical activity goals and improve their quality of life.
The talented Amberwell physical therapy team members work one-on-one with their patients, focusing on physical needs and getting them back to doing the activities they need or want to do. This team uses compassion and encouragement to drive their patients to return to their most functional status achievable.
Roles and Responsibilities
Our physical therapists and physical therapist assistants provide services in multiple settings. They work with
- inpatients
- swing bed patients
- Amberwell Health at Home patients
- outpatients
- outpatients in aquatic settings like the pool at the Atchison YMCA
They address strength deficits, balance deficits, and range of motions deficits, as well as pain, wounds, and many other physical limitations. They work with patients to develop plans of care that improve overall mobility and independence to either keep patients safely in their homes or help them transition from a hospital stay back to their homes.

Team Strength
“We are a very compassionate group of healthcare professionals,” said Margo Chartier, Director of Rehabilitation Services. “Our goals include not only what we feel that the patient needs to improve, but we also listen to our patients to ensure that we are working towards their goals as well. We work hard to make sure that the patient is truly active in their rehab process.”
Impact on Patient Care
“I not only get to address the patient from a physical aspect, but I also get to listen to and get to know the patient given the amount of time that I am able to spend with them. In treating the patient, the other therapists and I are able to build strong connections with the patient and that has a positive effect on their outcome.”
Adam Goodpasture, DPT
“I strive to provide holistic patient care by maintaining open communication and a professional relationship. This allows me to engage patients in care that is tailored to their needs and goals. Commitment to patient service in a respectable and attentive manner is important in making patients feel comfortable with the care I provide.”
Megan Lutz, PTA
“I feel I impact the patient experience by being a mediator between patient and doctor, a help with transition from hospital to back home, a cheerleader to help motivate and praise the patient on their progress and hard work, and someone to listen to their concerns and fears and let them know that someone cares. I sincerely hope I make their day a little bit better after I’ve seen them.”
Michele Combs, PT
“I strive to treat each of my patients like I would want to be treated. My patients are ‘homebound,’ therefore, I want to assist them in becoming more functional in their homes, and if able, safely get out of their homes for community activities. I listen to their goals, and together we come up with plans to work toward their goals. My goal for every visit is to improve the quality of life for my patients.”
Hannah Eckert, PTA
“I like to think that in a difficult situation I can encourage and give hope to our patients on returning home. And, most importantly, do it with a smile.”
Morgan Kane, PTA
“I try to give all patients the best care each and every visit. I do my best to connect with each one on a personal level to help them have an enjoyable experience, gain trust in me, and achieve their goals.”
Cory Eckert, DPT
Thank you to our physical therapy team for all they do to help create the best possible healthcare experience for our patients.

On choosing Amberwell Atchison...
Margo has served with Amberwell Health for seventeen years. Originally, she began at Amberwell Atchison because it was close to home. However, over the years that she has worked there, she has come to know the employees and patients as family friends. She truly enjoys the relationships that she has made within our organization.
In her spare time…
Margo’s children are very busy with sports, and she takes great pride in watching them enjoy themselves and grow with their skills. She also enjoys reading, riding horses, working in the barn, and being outside enjoying nature.
Margo has been married to her best friend Steve for fifteen years. They have a daughter named Piper and a son named Wyatt.
