Roles and Responsibilities
Our team of dedicated patient financial services professionals has a variety of roles and responsibilities. Some team members work directly with the patients collecting and applying payments either in person or over the phone. They offer financial counselling, address billing concerns with the patients, and help them understand how their insurance works. They help patients set up payment plans, complete financial assistance applications and Medicaid applications, and try to alleviate some of the stress associated with paying medical bills.
Thank you to our patient financial services team for everything they do for our patients and Amberwell Health!
Lisa Fischer, Manager of Patient Financial Services
Lisa has been serving with Amberwell Health since June of 2020. In her role as Manager of Patient Financial Services, she manages the emergency department registration staff, front desk cashiers, outpatient registration, financial counselors, centralized scheduling, the pre-authorization department, and the accounts receivable department.
On choosing Amberwell Atchison…
“I think Amberwell Health is one of the few organizations left that is truly community-based and works for the people,” said Lisa. “Most hospitals have been taken over by larger systems and have become all about making a profit and not being empathetic with the community. Amberwell Health cares for its community.”
On her family...
Lisa’s daughter is 23, her son is 19, and her husband just finished his masters in Healthcare Administration. She has one grandson.
In her spare time…
Lisa seeks out volunteer opportunities for animals and young children. She has a very special place in her heart for Alzheimer’s patients and working with people.
For fun, she loves to read mystery thrillers, watch Netflix, fish, and play with her dogs. She says she enjoys her two-year-old grandson more than anything.
