Amberwell is happy to announce the retirement of Louisa Kamatuka, DNP, RN. Louisa has been a dedicated member of our team and served as the Director of Inpatient Care at Amberwell Atchison since December 2018.
Louisa has provided exceptional leadership for Inpatient Care during her time here. Under her guidance, the unit-based council was established, empowering frontline staff to direct the care they provide and create more efficient workflows. She worked diligently to improve patient care and introduced a telemetry monitor on the halls, enhancing patient safety and nursing efficiency. Louisa also implemented the buddy system, fostering improved teamwork among the staff.
Her leadership was instrumental in Amberwell receiving two 5-star designations from CMS for patient experience and nursing communication. Louisa compassionately led and supported her team through the challenges of COVID-19. Known for her positivity and sense of humor, Louisa has been a source of joy and inspiration for those who have had the pleasure of working with her.
When reflecting on her time at Amberwell, Louisa fondly recalls the teamwork with her fellow leaders and the strong support from her colleagues, who have become like family to her. As she steps into retirement, Louisa looks forward to traveling with her family, including a special trip back home to Namibia for four weeks this summer. She is excited to follow KU basketball, especially their games in Hawaii, and to travel with her husband both in the USA and abroad.
Louisa, you will be deeply missed by us all. We wish you a joyful and fulfilling retirement, full of adventure and cherished moments with your loved ones. Congratulations on your retirement!
