This week, from November 1–7, we celebrate Inpatient Care Appreciation Week at Amberwell. While we also recognize that it’s Medical-Surgical Nurses Week, we want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the entire Inpatient Care Team for their relentless commitment and outstanding care they provide to our patients every day.
Our nurses on the Inpatient Care team play a critical role in patient care, skillfully managing a variety of conditions and offering comprehensive support to patients and their families, which plays a vital role in our patients’ recovery journey. Their dedication to ensuring safe and effective patient care is fundamental to our healthcare system, and we are profoundly grateful for their contributions.
Our nurse aides provide indispensable support and compassionate care, assisting with essential patient care needs and vital sign monitoring. Their commitment is crucial to the efficiency of patient care and does not go unnoticed.
Our unit secretaries provide essential organizational and administrative support, helping to maintain the seamless operation of our units. Their role is vital to patient safety and the effectiveness of our healthcare team, and we thank them for all they do.
Our housekeeping staff also plays a crucial role in inpatient care, ensuring a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for patients to receive treatment and recover. Their careful attention to cleanliness helps to prevent the spread of infection, which protects patients who are vulnerable to illness. Beyond the essential aspect of hygiene, our housekeepers also contribute to the overall patient experience, creating a welcoming and well-maintained atmosphere that supports the healing process and reflects positively on our facility.
A special note of appreciation goes to our Directors of Inpatient Care, Louisa Kamatuka at Amberwell Atchison and Kim Reed at Amberwell Hiawatha. Their leadership and commitment to excellence inspire their teams and set a high standard for patient care.
Additionally, there are several other individuals and departments that play a crucial role in enhancing inpatient care at Amberwell. Hospitalists offer consistent, personalized medical attention, while registered dietitians and inpatient pharmacists enhance patient safety through nutritional guidance and meticulous medication management. Our radiology and laboratory teams, along with our cardiopulmonary department, deliver precise diagnostics and specialized treatments crucial for effective care, especially for those with heart and lung conditions. Social services and case management professionals work together to ensure smooth transitions back to the community and advocate for patient needs. Additionally, the rehabilitation team focuses on restoring strength and functionality, and dietary services provide tailored nutrition plans and balanced meals suited to each patient’s unique needs, contributing to their recovery and overall health. Together, these teams provide indispensable support, ensuring comprehensive and patient-centered care at Amberwell.
Inpatient Care is a department that provides around-the-clock care. Every staff member, from physicians, nurses, and therapists to administrative, housekeeping, and support staff, plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standard of patient care and safety. We are immensely grateful for the commitment and expertise of each team member, as they work seamlessly across various shifts, ensuring that our patients receive compassionate, top-notch care at any hour of the day or night.
To the entire Inpatient Care team at Amberwell, we express our heartfelt thanks. Your dedication, expertise, and compassion make a significant impact on the lives of our patients every day. We are grateful for your commitment to providing exceptional care.
