Lane T. Young, DNAP, CRNA, joined the Amberwell Surgical Care team in July 2023. Lane has a genuine passion for the intricate procedures involved in his profession, such as epidurals, spinal anesthesia, and peripheral nerve blocks. He approaches each task with compassion and enthusiasm.
“There were a few reasons I chose Amberwell,” said Lane. “First, I love the variety of surgical cases that I get to treat here, especially those involving regional anesthesia, which is something I’m truly passionate about. Additionally, I have family that live in and around Atchison, and I have fond memories of visiting this area often when I was in high school. Another aspect that I really appreciate about Amberwell is getting to know the surgeons I work with on a personal level. Working at a larger facility, I’d be just another face in the crowd, but here I feel like a valued part of a tight-knit team.”
“My aunt is a nurse, and her dedication to the profession has always inspired me,” said Lane. “She encouraged me to consider a career in nursing. I became a CNA, and it opened my eyes to the world of nursing. I decided to pursue my nursing education at St. Luke’s. Working as an RN helped me discover my love for the hands-on, technical skills it requires. Adjusting drips and maintaining ventilator settings fascinated me, and I wanted to dive deeper into the field. So, I went back to school to become a CRNA.”
“I always aim to be personable with my patients,” said Lane. “When I enter the room, I make it a point to sit down and be at eye level with them. I have a conversation about their experience and what they can expect. I avoid using complicated medical terms. Instead, I reassure them that I’ll do everything in my power to help them and keep them safe. Putting them at ease is my priority.”
Lane and his wife Alexandrea have two small children and a German shorthaired pointer named Rip. In their free time, they love spending time with family and friends. Lane is an avid outdoorsman. When he’s not caring for patients, he enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, camping, and taking the boat out on the lake.
