Care When You’re Sick

We know many families are dealing with winter sickness and we want you to know we’re here for you. Here are some tips to help you get same-day or next-day care when you’re sick:

• Call before you come.
  Call before you come in to get scheduled for a priority acute care appointment. When you call for an acute care appointment, you will be prioritized for a same-day or next-day time slot or we may be able to see you at another nearby Amberwell primary care location.
• Don’t wait for walk in care.
  Instead of spending hours waiting for a potential opening for unscheduled care, it is best to call before you come to get a scheduled time with our acute care providers. There are limited time slots available each day for unscheduled care. If you walk in without an appointment, you may be scheduled for a later time that day or the following day or may be offered an appointment at a different Amberwell location.
• Take advantage of extended hours.
  When you call for an acute care appointment, our patient access representatives can schedule you for a time starting at 8am at all our locations and up to 7pm at Amberwell Atchison. In addition, Amberwell Atchison has Saturday morning hours from 8am-noon. Be sure to call before you come to ensure we have time slots available and find out the best option for your care.
• Let our scheduling team get you the care you need.
  Did you know we have different appointments available for different patient needs? We rearrange our schedules during times of high community illness to ensure we can see more sick patients during the day.
