Abigail Hager, PA

Abigail Hager, PA, is an Emergency Care provider and hospitalist at Amberwell Atchison. Her energy and enthusiasm resonate throughout all she does, including caring for patients. Abi has a passion for health and overall wellness, and a special interest in diabetes education, exercise science, and breastfeeding support.

On Choosing Amberwell Atchison…

Abi became aware of Amberwell Atchison through Amberwell Emergency Care provider Darlene Hirst, PA-C. Hirst was on the faculty for Abi’s medical program at UMKC and had given a few lectures in the class. Abi loved emergency medicine and decided to do her emergency care rotation at Amberwell Atchison.

As a result of her excellence during her rotation, she was offered a position at Amberwell Atchison. “I was thrilled to accept the position,” said Abi. “I love this area of Kansas, and I’d had great experiences with the other excellent providers I’d met and worked with at Amberwell.”

On Becoming a Healthcare Provider…

“I started my master’s degree in biology thinking that I wanted to pursue a PhD and teach at a university, but I quickly realized that wasn’t for me,” said Abi. “I missed interacting with people and helping people. I wanted to choose a career that made a difference in people’s lives and served people but also combined my love of science and education. Healthcare does that.”

About Abi

Abi is married with a young daughter. Her family has two bluetick coonhounds and three horses. In her spare time, she loves being active in the community—organizing 5K races, recycling, and doing environmental clean ups. Her hobbies include running marathons, lifting weights, hiking, camping, hunting, horseback riding, and being outdoors.
