Amberwell Hiawatha’s Emergency Care staff provides high quality, safe patient care with a dedicated team of nurses and providers trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and S.T.A.B.L.E. (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants).
In addition, Amberwell Hiawatha has been declared an Emergent Stroke Ready Hospital and has the capability to diagnose, treat, and transport acute stroke patients to a higher level of care as warranted.
Bag Size Policy
Emergency room patients, visitors, vendors, and all other non-staff must follow the bag size policy below.
- Approved bags
- Wallet or small clutch – recommended
- Small handbag or purse
- Non-approved bags
- Oversized purse
- Backpack
- Camera bag
Prohibited: Backpacks, bags, and items larger than 12″ × 12″ × 6″
- Exceptions
- Medical bags containing medical equipment, supplies, or medications
- Diaper bags accompanied by an appropriately aged child
- Vendor tool bags, boxes, supplies, or items appropriate to the vendor visit
Please leave all non-approved items in your vehicle. If you are unable to return items to a vehicle, staff will offer an alternative.
